Key Responsibilities

As a Junior Fire Safety Engineer, you will:

  • Deliver professional-level fire protection engineering services, including life safety code consulting, sprinkler design, fire alarm design, and performance-based fire engineering design, under the guidance of a licensed professional engineer or experienced consultant.
  • Prepare plans, specifications, and inspection reports for assigned tasks, ensuring accuracy and adherence to professional service standards.
  • Assist in resolving design challenges through field investigations, detailed design work, and thorough checking of design computations conducted by others.
  • Identify relevant codes and standards to inform responses to inquiries.
  • Conduct and document fundamental building code analyses, egress analyses, fire detection and alarm systems reviews, smoke control systems evaluations, and basic sprinkler and water supply systems assessments, including hydraulic calculations.
  • Apply engineering calculations for required sizes, means of egress, maximum allowable building area, sprinkler system water supplies, and smoke control equipment.
  • Provide progress reports to Project Managers and Project Leaders.
  • Engage in CADD document preparation and production as needed.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree (B.S.) or higher in Fire Protection, Mechanical, Civil, or Architectural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, enabling the creation of reports, business correspondence, presentations, and procedure manuals, as well as effective responses to inquiries from managers, clients, and the public.
  • A passion for advancing safety science and exceeding client expectations.
