Position Summary:
CV, Inc. is actively seeking a qualified individual for the role of Survey Crew Chief at our Baltimore office. The Survey Crew Chief will oversee and guide a team of survey field professionals. This role may involve both collaborative and independent work, encompassing a variety of tasks such as boundary surveys, right-of-way assessments, topographic mapping, construction surveys, subsurface utility locating, as-built surveys, and support for GPS and GIS mapping initiatives. The position requires adaptability to different weather conditions and terrains.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and direct a survey field crew in various surveying tasks.
  • Provide training and mentorship to team members.
  • Manage client and public relations effectively.
  • Perform mathematical calculations related to surveying.
  • Ensure team safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Oversee timely completion of project tasks.
  • Utilize Trimble Robotic Total Station and Data Collectors.
  • Operate GPS survey equipment and perform differential leveling.
  • Handle Lidar scanning and operate magnetic detectors.
  • Transport and maintain surveying equipment and tools.
  • Document field notes, sketches, and reports accurately.
  • Clear vegetation for line of sight using appropriate tools.
  • Identify and record property corners and survey control points.
  • Assist in setting up work zone signage and controls.
  • Drive a survey vehicle as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of survey data.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in land surveying and proficiency with surveying instruments.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various conditions.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for work assignments.
  • Strong adherence to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Capability to mentor and lead a team effectively.
  • Ability to work independently with robotic total stations and GPS equipment.
  • Physical capability to lift and transport survey equipment across challenging terrains.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as necessary.
  • Ability to obtain necessary security and safety certifications.
  • Successful completion of drug screening and background checks.
  • Positive attitude and professional demeanor.
  • Experience with MDOT-SHA is advantageous.
  • CST certification and Confined Space Training are beneficial.
