Position Summary:
We are currently seeking a qualified individual for the role of Survey Crew Chief at our Baltimore office. The Survey Crew Chief will be responsible for overseeing and guiding a survey field team, ensuring that all activities are conducted efficiently and in compliance with industry standards. This role may involve both teamwork and independent work, with tasks that include boundary surveys, right-of-way assessments, topographic mapping, and construction surveys.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise a survey field crew in various surveying tasks.
  • Provide training and mentorship to team members.
  • Engage in client and public relations to maintain positive interactions.
  • Perform mathematical calculations necessary for surveying.
  • Ensure team safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Manage project timelines and ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Utilize Trimble Robotic Total Station and other surveying equipment.
  • Conduct Differential Levels and operate GPS survey tools.
  • Maintain and inspect surveying instruments to ensure optimal performance.
  • Document field notes, sketches, and reports accurately.
  • Clear paths through vegetation as necessary for surveying activities.
  • Assist in setting up work zone signs and controls.
  • Operate a survey vehicle and maintain inventory of supplies.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Land Surveying and proficiency with surveying instruments.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to work outdoors.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for out-of-town assignments.
  • Strong adherence to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team.
  • Physical capability to lift and carry equipment over challenging terrains.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including overtime as needed.
  • Must pass drug screening and background checks.
  • Positive attitude and professionalism are essential.
