Piping Systems Specialist

JOB OVERVIEW

The Pipefitting Technician at Bay Ltd. is responsible for the layout, assembly, installation, and maintenance of piping systems, supports, and associated hydraulic or pneumatic equipment. This role is crucial for various systems including steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, and industrial production processes within a fabrication environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Utilize tools such as saws, cutting torches, and pipe benders to cut, thread, or shape pipes according to specifications.
  • Develop detailed drawings of piping systems and supports based on provided blueprints.
  • Securely assemble pipes, tubes, and fittings through methods such as welding, brazing, or soldering.
  • Accurately measure and mark pipes for cutting or threading operations.
  • Conduct inspections and tests on installed systems using various methods including pressure gauges and hydrostatic testing.
  • Fasten pipes to structures using brackets and clamps with both hand and power tools.
  • Perform routine maintenance and safety checks to ensure operational integrity.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and promote a culture of safety within the workplace.
  • Carry out additional tasks as assigned by management.

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in pipefitting.
  • Certification from NCCER as a pipefitter is required.
  • Successful completion of a hands-on skills assessment is mandatory.

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Capable of exercising discretion and independent judgment in daily operations.
  • Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Ability to collaborate across various levels of the organization while achieving results.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in work execution.
  • Capacity to perform under pressure and meet departmental deadlines.
  • Willingness to work non-standard hours as required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Physical mobility to move between different job sites.
  • Proficient in operating job-related tools and equipment.
  • Capability to perform repetitive motions involving legs, wrists, hands, and fingers.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent walking on uneven surfaces in diverse weather conditions.
