Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Facilities Maintenance Specialist is tasked with executing corrective maintenance and troubleshooting for various operational facilities. This role encompasses a wide range of building upkeep, construction, and repair responsibilities that necessitate expertise in multiple trade practices, including but not limited to electrical work, plumbing, painting, carpentry, pipefitting, and HVAC systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

PRIMARY DUTIES -

  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of work methodologies, techniques, and skills across various trades, including electrical, carpentry, masonry, plumbing, ironwork, painting, concrete work, HVAC, fire protection, earthwork, and irrigation.
  • Work autonomously to facilitate maintenance and repair operations while ensuring the upkeep of facilities and associated grounds.
  • Conduct troubleshooting to identify the root causes of issues and determine the most effective repair strategies.
  • Demonstrate the ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and other technical documentation provided by manufacturers.
  • Maintain knowledge of tools, materials, methods, and practices relevant to the Facilities Maintenance field.

SECONDARY DUTIES -

  • Familiarity with standard environmental practices and techniques applicable in industrial or commercial settings, preferably within a government context.
  • Possess a working knowledge of practices and skills in at least two trade areas (HVAC, plumbing, electrical) within a commercial environment.
  • Exhibit strong customer service abilities by maintaining effective communication with project managers and clients to ensure a satisfactory experience.
  • Perform additional related tasks as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • A minimum of three years of experience in the Facilities Maintenance sector.
  • High school diploma or equivalent General Educational Development (GED) Certificate.
  • Knowledge of and compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations is essential.
  • A valid driver's license is required, and driving history must align with company standards throughout employment.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check is necessary for access to federal facilities.
