Job Details:

General Overview

The role is essential in facilitating all procurement activities at the Marine Science Institute.

Key Responsibilities
  • Purchasing: Assist faculty and staff by gathering and documenting information to create purchase orders, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations. Act as a liaison among the department, university purchasing office, and vendors to meet departmental procurement requirements. Prepare and manage various types of purchase orders.
  • Procurement Card Management: Oversee, document, and process all procurement card transactions in line with relevant rules and regulations. Provide assistance to users regarding inquiries and exception requests.
  • Accounts Payable: Analyze and process petty cash reimbursements and employee reimbursements.
  • Additional Duties: Support various tasks as needed, including managing the safety shoe program and ensuring compliance with shoe specifications.
Required Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of one year of experience in an administrative role, or a high school diploma/GED with five years of clerical experience, including one year in an administrative capacity.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or further education in procurement.
  • Experience with Texas state or higher education procurement processes.
  • Familiarity with finance and purchasing applications at the University of Texas at Austin.
Salary Range

$40,000 and above, based on qualifications.

Working Conditions
  • Standard office environment.
  • Frequent use of a keyboard at a workstation.
  • Manual dexterity required.
