Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Systems Specialist to join our team at the University of Texas at Austin. As an Electrical Systems Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our campus electrical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with severe weather preparations and evacuation, including rigging emergency power and emergency generator testing.
- Install temporary power for campus special events and contractors.
- Test electrical equipment for safety and accuracy.
- Perform installation, maintenance, inspections, modifications, and repair of building and equipment electrical systems and components rated up to 600 volts.
- Perform work in accordance with established safety procedures and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Plan, lay out, and install wiring, components, and equipment for new construction and renovations in conformance with design drawings, specifications, and compliance with published codes.
- Respond to service calls, troubleshoot systems, circuits, controls, panels, and switchgears, and take corrective action.
- Trace circuits and test continuity of electrical and electronic circuits for installed equipment utilizing ammeter, voltmeter, ohmmeter, as-built drawings, and visual inspections.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in electrical technology or related field preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in electrical systems installation, maintenance, and repair.
- Knowledge of electrical codes, safety procedures, and industry standards.
- Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in extreme weather conditions.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
