Assistant Director, Housing Operations

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Director, Housing Operations to join our team at St. Mary's University. This is a full-time, 12-month live-off position that provides leadership in the development and maintenance of a dynamic and inclusive living environment for our students.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the University's student housing software system to facilitate room assignments, meal plan enrollment, and associated processes.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance the student experience, including coordination of housing operations, data management, and reporting.
- Collaborate with campus partners to ensure effective communication and coordination of housing-related activities.
- Provide leadership and supervision to student employees and staff members in the Office of Residence Life.
- Develop and maintain official rosters, room lists, and occupancy records.
- Coordinate the inventory and room inspection process, including standardizing damage charges and assuring timely billing.
- Serve on a central-office on-call rotation to support live-in professional staff members responding to campus incidents.
- Master's degree from an accredited college/university in student development, higher education, counseling, or a related field.
- 2-4 years of full-time related experience in an institution of higher education, preferably in an office of Residence Life.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse communities.
- Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines.
- Ability to demonstrate a capacity for leadership and commitment to working collaboratively with a diverse and dynamic community.
- Prior experience working with college students and university residence hall facilities.
- Knowledge of and proficiency with Microsoft Suite, Banner, StarRez, and Maxient.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) with the ability to understand and communicate with Spanish-speaking individuals.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to issues of equity, diversity, and inclusion, with a desire to work with diverse populations.
This position requires the ability to work in an office environment and university campus setting, with frequent movement across the campus to conduct day-to-day business. The employee will be required to sit, walk, and stand, talk and hear, both in person and by telephone, and use hands repetitively to operate standard office equipment. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
