Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY
The Construction Project Assistant Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the Project Manager throughout all stages of the assigned construction initiative. This includes the coordination of personnel, materials, and equipment; ensuring adherence to plans and specifications; maintaining project timelines and budgets; and ensuring that all operations are conducted safely and professionally. The Assistant Manager is a vital member of the team, providing leadership and direction to guarantee that projects are completed on schedule and meet the company's quality standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee daily on-site management of the labor force, including assistants, foremen, subcontractors, and other construction personnel on the assigned project.
  • Collaborate closely with the Project Manager to supervise and ensure the overall construction effort aligns with design, budget, quality, and timeline.
  • Offer expertise and guidance as necessary to enhance project outcomes.

Relationship Development:

  • Foster productive relationships with team members by demonstrating ethics, integrity, and professionalism.
  • Build trust and confidence through effective communication and understanding of all team members' expectations.
  • Recognize owners' needs and expectations to drive project success.

Team Collaboration:

  • Engage with owners and architects regarding project progress and any modifications to plans.
  • Work in tandem with the Project Manager throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Facilitate onsite meetings with various stakeholders at designated projects.
  • Provide insights on subcontractor procurement.

Budget Management:

  • Formulate a cost-effective strategy and timeline for project completion.
  • Monitor and maintain the construction schedule to ensure project delivery within the designated timeframe and budget.

Planning and Coordination:

  • Establish a long-term plan and schedule to meet project deadlines.
  • Coordinate daily activities of team members and subcontractors.
  • Review contract documents and secure final approvals prior to project completion.
  • Conduct pre-construction meetings and oversee coordination meetings with subcontractors.
  • Prepare daily reports and maintain field documentation.

Leadership and Oversight:

  • Promote adherence to jobsite policies and procedures.
  • Delegate tasks appropriately and hold team members accountable.
  • Empower team members to make timely decisions.

Quality Assurance:

  • Establish performance expectations for team members and subcontractors.
  • Review work to ensure quality standards are upheld.
  • Maintain an updated set of plans on-site.

Safety Management:

  • Supervise compliance with safety regulations.
  • Address safety violations promptly.
  • Conduct safety meetings with subcontractors.
  • Ensure the jobsite remains clean, safe, and secure.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Assist Superintendents with company policies and safety procedures.
  • Travel may be necessary based on project demands.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory role within construction.
  • OSHA 30 Hour certification.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • SWPPP Training.
  • LEED Certification, if applicable.
  • Valid Driver's license.

Comprehensive understanding of construction processes, administration, and project management. Ability to cultivate trust and confidence through effective communication and understanding of team members' expectations.
