Role: Referral Specialist II
Location: West Salem Clinic
Employment Status: Full-Time, Monday - Friday
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the referral requests to ensure timely processing.
- Assist in training new personnel within the referral department.
- Serve as a backup for the Referral Specialist II during their absence.
Specific Duties Include:
- Secure preauthorization from HMO/insurance providers or other third-party payers for services rendered to patients at external locations.
- Obtain preauthorization for medications with appropriate documentation for prescriptions issued to medical and mental health patients.
- Coordinate appointment scheduling and interpreter services.
- Keep healthcare providers informed throughout the referral process.
- Respond promptly to patient inquiries regarding referrals.
- Facilitate communication and problem-solving between patients, specialists, and insurance companies.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proficient in medical terminology and able to write clearly.
- Current understanding of insurance coverage, pre-authorization, and referral processes.
- Ability to interact courteously and effectively with the public, both in person and via telephone.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across all clinic areas while exercising independent judgment.
