Job Description

Job Title: Port Operations Director

Job Summary:

AiLO Logistics is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Port Operations Director to lead our port operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing port operations, overseeing daily activities, and developing strategies to improve overall operational performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop Drayage Capacity: Develop and implement strategies to increase drayage capacity to meet customer needs.
  • Port Diversification Strategy: Develop a port diversification strategy to reduce dwell time at the port.
  • Pricing and Prioritization: Develop pricing and prioritization processes for containers to ensure sales targets are met.
  • Empty Container and Chassis Management: Manage empty container and chassis inventory to optimize operations.
  • Lead Time Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve overall lead times and develop strategies to implement changes.
  • Stakeholder Alignment: Ensure connectivity and alignment between internal stakeholders to achieve operational goals.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Maintain processes in full compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory guidelines.
  • Team Leadership: Lead cross-functional teams to analyze problems, gather information, generate options, and guide team action.
  • Turn Per Driver Ratio: Ensure the team is working efficiently to coordinate vessel arrivals and departures to maximize the turn per driver ratio.
  • KPI Development: Develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure each department's performance.
  • Team Building and Mentorship: Build and mentor a high-performing team that prioritizes customer satisfaction.
  • Strategic Thinking: Develop and implement strategic plans to drive business growth and achieve operational excellence.
  • Problem-Solving: Analyze complex problems and develop systemic solutions to drive business results.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Transportation, Supply Chain, or equivalent.
  • Experience: 8+ years of proven executive transportation leadership experience.
  • Skills: Proven experience in the transportation industry with progressive leadership positions, financial policies and procedures, Microsoft Excel, contract negotiation, data analysis, and problem-solving.
  • Competencies: Strong communication and leadership skills, ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic business environment, and proficiency in computer and software applications.
