Reporting To: Port Operations Supervisor

Position Summary:

Ecology Auto Parts, Inc. is seeking skilled Class A Port Drivers. The primary responsibility of the Port Driver is to transport containers efficiently to and from the ports. Candidates must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License, a TWIC card, and maintain a clean driving record. Physical stamina is essential, as the role involves lifting heavy items and working in various weather conditions. Adherence to safety regulations is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely transport materials to designated locations, strictly following traffic laws and safety protocols.
  • Complete necessary documentation, including daily trip reports and vehicle condition assessments.
  • Operate vehicles in compliance with Ecology Auto Parts, Inc. safety standards, OSHA, and DOT regulations.
  • Conduct thorough pre- and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and maintain records.
  • Report any unsafe conditions or service-related issues promptly to the Operations Supervisor.
  • Participate in all required training sessions and meetings.
  • Collaborate with the Operations Supervisor to enhance route efficiency and identify best practices.
  • Communicate any incidents, accidents, or safety concerns immediately.
  • Manage service interruptions and communicate with Dispatch regarding customer requests.
  • Perform loading and unloading of cargo while adhering to proper lifting techniques.
  • Inspect vehicles for mechanical issues and perform routine maintenance as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of hours worked and mileage.
  • Follow all company policies and maintain a clean work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License is required.
  • Experience hauling 40' - 53' trailers.
  • Ability to navigate using maps and GPS.
  • Physical capability to meet job demands.
  • Experience with both manual and automatic transmission vehicles.
  • Minimum of 1 year of verifiable truck driving experience is required.
  • Hazmat endorsement is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Clean driving record with no more than 2 moving violations in the past 3 years.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screening.
  • Experience with port drayage trucks and containerized cargo is preferred.
  • Forklift certification is a plus.
  • TWIC card is required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, and walk.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision and depth perception.
  • Frequent travel is expected.

Compensation:

The Class A Driver (Port Division) position offers a competitive salary range and a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401k retirement plan with employer matching, generous paid time off, and life insurance.
