Reports To: Port Operations Supervisor

Position Summary

Ecology Auto Parts, Inc. is seeking skilled Class A Drivers for our Port Division. The primary responsibility of the Port Driver is to transport shipping containers to and from major ports. The ideal candidate will possess a valid Commercial Driver's License, a TWIC card, and maintain a clean driving record. Physical capability to lift heavy items and adaptability to various weather conditions are essential. Adherence to safety protocols is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely transport materials to designated locations while complying with traffic laws and safety regulations.
  • Complete necessary documentation, including daily trip reports and vehicle condition assessments.
  • Operate vehicles in accordance with company safety policies and all relevant local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Conduct thorough pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicles and maintain accurate records.
  • Promptly report any unsafe conditions or service-related issues to the Operations Supervisor.
  • Participate in all required training sessions and meetings as directed.
  • Collaborate with the Operations Supervisor to enhance route efficiency and identify best practices.
  • Communicate any incidents or service interruptions to the appropriate personnel.
  • Drive trucks to and from port facilities, ensuring compliance with all traffic regulations.
  • Load and unload cargo, following proper lifting techniques.
  • Inspect vehicles for mechanical issues and perform routine maintenance as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of hours worked and mileage.
  • Report any accidents or incidents immediately.
  • Adhere to company policies and maintain a clean work environment.

Qualifications

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License is required.
  • Experience hauling 40' - 53' trailers.
  • Ability to read maps and utilize GPS technology.
  • Physical capability to meet job demands.
  • Experience driving both manual and automatic transmission vehicles.
  • Willingness to work in various weather conditions.
  • Minimum of 1 year of verifiable CDL truck driving experience is required.
  • Hazmat endorsement is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Clean driving record with no more than 2 moving violations in the past 3 years.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screening.
  • Experience with port drayage trucks and containerized cargo is preferred.
  • Forklift certification is a plus.
  • TWIC card is required.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, and walk.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision and depth perception.
  • Frequent travel is necessary.

Compensation
