Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Training and Development Specialist to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a key member of our training department, you will be responsible for ensuring employees are effectively trained in the core and specialty competencies required for their position.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and deliver training programs to employees at all levels of the organization, including new employee orientation, specialized training, and local training.
  • Assist in developing and revising competency-based curriculum in Core and Specialty Classes, as well as other topics as needed.
  • Conduct needs assessments and program assessments to determine training sufficiency and areas for improvement.
  • Work closely with the Competency, Training and Development (CTD) director to ensure all training programs meet performance criteria and are accurate.
  • Document class attendance and participation, as well as evaluate employee competencies and skills as outlined in policy and/or course requirements.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of training procedures and techniques, as well as adult education principles and practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to teach and demonstrate skills related to assigned courses, such as CPR, Ukeru, and Safe Use of Restraints (SUR).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to use Windows-based programs, such as Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
