Job Description:

Join the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services as a Training and Development Specialist III, where you will play a vital role in providing complex educational activities and services to State Supported Living Center (SSLC) employees.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, plan, organize, conduct, and evaluate educational and training programs/opportunities in new pre-service training, annual refresher training, and on-the-job training.
  • Track and ensure accuracy of SSLC curriculum, ensuring employees are effectively trained in core and specialty competencies required for their position.
  • Maintain accurate records of training, utilizing the training software program to provide employee training records and report training compliance.
  • Work under general supervision of the Competency and Training Department (CTD) Director, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Requirements:
  • Knowledge of training procedures/techniques.
  • Skills in preparing training classes, using computer-based programs such as Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other applicable software programs.
  • Ability to enter and track large amounts of data and utilize databases.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and interact with individuals of different backgrounds and types of education.
  • Ability to train others, work with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and be certified as an instructor in Safe Use of Restraints (SUR), Ukeru, Basic Life Support (BLS), and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

Working Conditions:

This position may be required to drive a state-owned vehicle and work a specific shift schedule or rotating schedule, extended shift, and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy.
