Position Overview: We are in search of a strategic and seasoned Senior Vice President of Facilities Management to lead and enhance the maintenance operations across our senior living communities located in twenty-one (21) states. This role is vital in ensuring the safety, comfort, and operational efficiency of our properties while maintaining the high standards of service that Hawthorn Senior Living is known for.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Direction:
- Formulate and implement a comprehensive facilities management strategy that aligns with the goals and objectives of Hawthorn Senior Living.
- Provide servant leadership to the eight (8) Regional Facilities Directors and community management teams, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Operational Management:
- Oversee the maintenance of all properties, including buildings, grounds, equipment, and systems, ensuring optimal performance and longevity.
- Establish and monitor preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and ensure the safety and comfort of both staff and residents.
- Resource Oversight:
- Effectively manage departmental budgets, resources, and staffing to meet operational demands and financial objectives while upholding our reputation as a leading provider of senior housing.
- Collaborate with procurement to ensure the timely acquisition of supplies, equipment, and services necessary for maintenance operations.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements, safety standards, and company policies related to maintenance operations.
- Promote a culture of safety and fiscal responsibility throughout all maintenance activities.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with senior leadership, regional teams, community management, and external vendors to optimize maintenance strategies and outcomes.
- Provide strategic insights and recommendations regarding capital investments, lifecycle planning, and sustainability initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in a senior leadership role overseeing maintenance or facilities operations, preferably within senior living, property management, multi-family housing, healthcare, or hospitality sectors. Experience managing multiple (10+) senior living communities or multi-family properties is essential, with a preference for candidates who have managed across various states.
- Demonstrated ability to lead large teams across multiple locations.
- Strong technical knowledge in maintenance practices, including preventive maintenance and asset management.
- Exceptional organizational, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
- Proficiency in budget management, resource allocation, and strategic planning.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance standards applicable to maintenance operations in senior living communities is preferred.
- Willingness to travel extensively.
- Capability to develop and manage capital improvement budgets and projects.
