Key Responsibilities:
MV Transportation is in search of a

Safety

Instructor (Classroom)


to deliver both classroom and practical behind-the-wheel training to new hires and existing staff in areas such as defensive driving, passenger assistance, documentation, route planning, service area knowledge, emergency protocols, and all facets of a vehicle operator's role.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


Assist in the preliminary evaluation of new hire candidates to ensure compliance with client and corporate standards, aligning training efforts with project staffing requirements.

Engage in community outreach to discover potential new hire candidates and identify suitable recruitment sources.

Deliver classroom instruction in accordance with corporate and client guidelines covering all aspects of public transit vehicle operation relevant to passenger transport, including defensive driving, service area knowledge, passenger loading and unloading, proper documentation, utilization of onboard equipment, accident and emergency protocols, dispatch communication, and passenger sensitivity.

Provide ongoing monthly and/or annual refresher training on topics pertinent to the service and its area in a timely manner.

Support the safety and training department in recognizing additional or refresher training needs based on current employee trends.

Ensure a fully qualified team of vehicle operators to deliver services in line with contract specifications.
Document all training activities meticulously and ensure the accurate completion of all training-related employee records.
Establish connections with key personnel from client agencies to identify further training needs, resources, and opportunities.
Offer feedback and follow-up for operator performance evaluations and pinpoint individual training requirements as necessary.
Assist the safety and training department in investigating incidents and collisions.
Help maintain a comprehensive employee filing system and participate in audits and inspections.

Qualifications:

Essential Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent
Prior experience in passenger transportation within the current project or a similar environment is essential.
Experience in commercial driving training is required.
Demonstrated excellent safety and service record.

Certification by the Department of Transportation (DOT) in the "Instructor Course in Bus Operator Training" is preferred for teaching classroom instruction and signing DMV documents.

A valid California Class B commercial Driver's license with passenger endorsement, Verification of Transit Training (VTT) certificate, current Department of Transportation (DOT) medical card, and the ability to successfully obtain necessary base access are required.

If the candidate does not possess a current Class B CDL, they must be able to obtain one within 6 months of hire.

Familiarity with local training programs and operations.
Knowledge of the service area.
Understanding of project-specific vehicles, components, and data/communications systems.
Strong customer service skills.
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Capability to work independently and objectively.

Compensation:
$22.40/hour
