Position Summary:

The Training Center Supervisor will act as the American Heart Association (AHA) Training Center Coordinator (TCC) for Tri-City Healthcare District. This role involves the coordination of Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) training sessions to ensure adequate availability for staff. The supervisor will oversee AHA Instructors, ensuring compliance with established AHA guidelines, and will collaborate with educators to integrate AHA components into annual clinical skills labs. The position also focuses on evaluating program effectiveness and implementing continuous improvement strategies, all while upholding the mission and values of the healthcare district.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a safe and hygienic working environment, adhering to safety and infection control protocols.
  • Execute all duties in alignment with AHA mission and guidelines as specified in the Emergency Cardiac Care Program Administration Manual (PAM).
  • Serve as the Training Center Coordinator for all AHA courses.
  • Maintain an active agreement with the Regional Emergency Cardiac Care Office, ensuring adherence to AHA standards.
  • Disseminate updates and training materials to instructors.
  • Support departmental projects as needed.
  • Assist students during their clinical rotations and facilitate assignments within the organization.
  • Establish connections with local high schools and community organizations to promote nursing careers.
  • Organize and schedule shadow training opportunities for students interested in nursing.
  • Provide guidance to students and staff involved in educational programs, facilitating their clinical rotations.
  • Coordinate clinical affiliation agreements and manage student rotations.
  • Oversee the High School Internship Program.
  • Manage various projects as assigned by the Director, including Nursing Orientation and new graduate programs.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two years of recent experience as an AHA instructor or AHA Training Center Coordinator, or willingness to obtain instructor status within six months of hire.
  • Self-motivated and accountable, with strong ethical standards.
  • Proficient in project development and leadership.
  • Deep understanding of adult learning principles.
  • Excellent skills in planning, organizing, facilitating, and effective communication.
  • Experience in developing and delivering presentations across various formats.
  • Familiarity with automated data systems and hospital information systems.
  • Knowledge of clinical care processes and quality improvement practices.
  • Two years of clinical experience in a hospital setting is required.
  • Experience working with nursing students is preferred.
  • Background in cultural competency training or educational training for students and nurses is required.
  • Ability to effectively plan, organize, and communicate with diverse groups.
  • Proficient in technology, including Word, Excel, and hospital data systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and initiative.
  • Knowledge of clinical orientation support and quality improvement is essential.
  • Experience in project management is required.

Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program is required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.

Licenses:

  • Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license is required.

Certification:

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required upon hire.
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is required upon hire.
  • Instructor certifications in BLS and ACLS are preferred.
  • Instructor certifications such as Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are preferred.
