Position Overview

The Maybourne Beverly Hills Hotel is seeking a dedicated and skilled individual to take on the role of Banquets Captain. This position is essential for the flawless orchestration of all banquet functions, ranging from small gatherings to large-scale events. We are looking for a candidate who possesses a keen eye for detail, a strong passion for hospitality, and the capability to guide and motivate a team to provide exceptional service that surpasses our guests' expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Manage all elements of banquet functions, ensuring accurate execution in line with the Banquet Event Orders (BEOs).
  2. Work in close collaboration with the Director of Banquets, Catering Team, and Culinary Department to fulfill all guest needs and event specifications.
  3. Conduct pre-event briefings with the banquet team to discuss event particulars, roles, and expectations.
  4. Guarantee that banquet rooms and public spaces are set up to meet the hotel's luxury standards, including décor, table arrangements, and audiovisual requirements.
  5. Proactively address and resolve any challenges that may arise during events to ensure a seamless experience for guests.
  6. Lead, train, and inspire the banquet team, promoting a positive and professional workplace culture.
  7. Delegate tasks and supervise the banquet staff, ensuring compliance with service standards and guest satisfaction.
  8. Provide continuous training to the team on service excellence, guest engagement, and effective problem-solving.
  9. Monitor team performance and provide constructive feedback to the Director of Banquets for ongoing improvement.
  10. Act as the primary liaison for clients and guests during events, ensuring all requirements are met and addressing any issues promptly.
  11. Engage with guests to enhance their experience, offering personalized service and anticipating their needs.
  12. Collect and communicate guest feedback to relevant departments to improve future events.
  13. Ensure all BEOs are followed accurately, and any modifications or special requests are communicated to the appropriate teams.
  14. Maintain detailed records of event specifics, guest interactions, and any issues encountered, providing reports as necessary.
  15. Assist with inventory management, ensuring that all banquet supplies, equipment, and linens are adequately stocked and in excellent condition.
  16. Ensure compliance with local health and safety regulations, as well as the hotel's policies and standards.
  17. Conduct regular inspections of banquet areas to uphold cleanliness, safety, and maintenance standards.
  18. Ensure adherence to all safety protocols, including proper equipment handling and emergency procedures.

Qualifications

  1. 3-5 years of experience in banquet or event management within a luxury hotel or fine dining environment, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory capacity.
  2. High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in Hospitality Management or a related field is preferred.
  3. Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
  4. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with a talent for prioritizing effectively in a dynamic environment.
  5. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on delivering personalized, high-touch service.
  6. Proficiency in event management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  7. Knowledge of food and beverage service standards, with a strong attention to detail and luxury presentation.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on event schedules.
