Position SummaryThe Banquets Captain plays a crucial role in the successful execution of various banquet events, ranging from small gatherings to large celebrations. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong passion for hospitality and the ability to lead a team in delivering outstanding service that surpasses guest expectations.
Key Responsibilities- Manage all elements of banquet events, ensuring accurate execution in line with Banquet Event Orders (BEOs).
- Work closely with the Director of Banquets, Catering Team, and Culinary Department to fulfill guest requirements and event specifics.
- Conduct pre-event briefings with the banquet team to clarify event details, roles, and expectations.
- Ensure banquet rooms and public areas are set up to meet the hotel's luxury standards, including decor, table arrangements, and audiovisual needs.
- Proactively address and resolve any issues that may arise during events to ensure a flawless guest experience.
- Lead, train, and inspire the banquet team, promoting a positive and professional work atmosphere.
- Delegate tasks and supervise banquet servers, ensuring compliance with service standards and guest satisfaction.
- Provide ongoing training to the team on service excellence, guest engagement, and problem-solving strategies.
- Monitor team performance and provide feedback to the Director of Banquets for continuous improvement.
- Act as the primary contact for clients and guests during events, ensuring all needs are met and concerns are addressed promptly.
- Engage with guests to enhance their experience, offering personalized service and anticipating their needs.
- Capture and communicate guest feedback to relevant departments to improve future events.
- Ensure all BEOs are accurately followed, with any changes or special requests communicated to the appropriate departments.
- Maintain detailed records of event specifics, guest interactions, and any issues encountered, providing reports as necessary.
- Assist with inventory management, ensuring all banquet supplies, equipment, and linens are well-stocked and in excellent condition.
- Ensure compliance with local health and safety regulations, as well as the hotel's policies and standards.
- Conduct regular inspections of banquet areas to uphold cleanliness, safety, and maintenance standards.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols, including proper equipment handling and emergency procedures.
- 3-5 years of experience in banquet or event management within a luxury hotel or fine dining environment, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory capacity.
- High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in Hospitality Management or a related field is preferred.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, with a focus on prioritization in a fast-paced setting.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, emphasizing personalized, high-touch service.
- Proficiency in event management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of food and beverage service standards, with a keen eye for detail and luxury presentation.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on event schedules.
