Job Overview

Position Title: Library Outreach Associate 2

Employment Type: Part-Time, Non-Exempt

Compensation: $16.50 per hour

Weekly Commitment: 28 hours

Supervision: Reports to Senior Library Outreach Associate and Library Outreach Associate 3

Work Environment: On-site

The Library Outreach Associate 2 is essential in facilitating the daily functions of the Library Connect services. This role focuses on providing library services, managing collection upkeep, and enhancing community engagement through designated Library Connect routes and outreach initiatives.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Possession of a valid California Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • Must maintain insurability with no significant traffic violations in California.
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
  • Prior experience in customer service or library services is advantageous.
  • Capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Successful completion of a background check is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate the Library Connect vehicle to transport it to various locations across Riverside County, ensuring compliance with traffic regulations.
  • Assist patrons with book checkouts, inquiries, and other library services aboard the Library Connect vehicle.
  • Maintain the organization and cleanliness of the Library Connect vehicle, including shelving books and materials.
  • Support inventory management and the condition of Library Connect materials and resources.
  • Ensure library materials are systematically organized and accessible to patrons.
  • Contribute to general library programming efforts, including setting up displays and assisting with program logistics.
  • Engage with patrons of all ages, providing assistance, information, and fostering a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Address patron inquiries and concerns with professionalism and sensitivity.
  • Assist with the logistics of Library Connect routes and stops, including setup and breakdown procedures.
  • Communicate any immediate needs or issues related to the Library Connect vehicle or its services to the Library Outreach Associate 3 or Senior Library Outreach Associate.
  • Collaborate with the Library Outreach Associate 3 to ensure the seamless operation of Library Connect programs and services.
  • Work cooperatively with other team members to achieve program objectives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the goals and mission of Library Systems & Services.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to effectively interact with a diverse range of staff, patrons, supervisors, and others.
  • Availability to work weekends and some evenings.
  • Proficiency in utilizing various technologies to accomplish tasks.
  • Ability to adhere to library policies and procedures.
  • Adaptability to work accurately in a dynamic and varied environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods.
  • This role requires mobility to collect materials and access files/supplies.
  • Regularly operates a computer and other equipment such as printers and copiers.
  • Occasionally needs to ascend/descend a step stool or stairs to retrieve or store supplies.
  • Frequently communicates with patrons and other staff to provide information and assistance.
  • Regularly pushes and pulls book carts weighing up to 75 lbs. and transports materials.
