Job Summary

The Senior Psychiatric Technician is a critical role within the Department of Developmental Services - Canyon Springs Community State Facility. This position requires a high level of expertise in providing care, treatment, and training to clients with developmental disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and provide for the care, treatment, and training of clients following established standards and procedures.
  • Guide and organize assigned staff on a shift in providing active treatment services to ensure implementation of Individual Program Plans.
  • Communicate and collaborate with staff to carry out the facility's mission, goals, and objectives.
  • Direct all routine nursing activities of assigned staff and provide for total nursing care during the assigned shift.
  • Maintain a safe, sanitary, therapeutic, and professional environment that promotes respect and dignity and protects privacy, rights, confidentiality, and physical/emotional well-being of all clients.
  • Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement processes.
  • Facilitate and monitor compliance with Federal, State, and facility standards of clients' treatment and care.
  • Facilitate the scheduling, orientation, coaching, training, counseling, and performance evaluation of assigned personnel.
  • Participate in staff development training programs and attend training as required.
  • Must possess and maintain sufficient strength, agility, endurance, and sensory ability to perform the duties contained in this duty statement.
  • Will be required to work weekends and holidays.

  • The position requires Medical Clearance prior to being hired.
  • Medical Examination Required.
