Position Overview:

Under general oversight, the Clinical Pharmacist manages the supervisory, distributive, and clinical responsibilities of the Pharmacy. This includes the prompt and precise evaluation, processing, verification, and monitoring of physician orders, patient medication records, and completed prescriptions. The role also involves conducting routine daily rounds on assigned nursing units.

Timely and accurate drug information, recommendations, and interventions are provided to physicians, healthcare professionals, and patients. The Clinical Pharmacist collaborates with the Director and Assistant Director of Pharmacy to enhance departmental performance and adapt services to meet the evolving needs of the hospital and community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and present assigned projects to Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) and other relevant committees.
  • Complete duties delegated by the Director or Assistant Director of Pharmacy Services efficiently and accurately.

Qualifications:

Previous experience in a hospital pharmacy setting is preferred. The Pharmacist is expected to maintain a suitable level of competency by completing a minimum of 15 Continuing Education (CE) credit hours annually, including 6 CE live credit hours.

Educational Background:

A degree from an accredited college of pharmacy is preferred. The Pharmacist must uphold competency standards through ongoing education.

  • Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision while managing stress effectively.
  • Strong collaborative skills to work with health-system and pharmacy teams.
  • Capability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changing workloads and schedules.
  • Proficient in prioritizing tasks, making decisions, and responding promptly to urgent requests.
  • Ability to meet the pharmaceutical care needs of diverse patient populations, including neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Strong communication, supervisory, organizational, learning, and minimal teaching skills are crucial for effective performance.

Physical Requirements:

This role requires frequent standing, sitting, and walking, along with the use of hands and fingers. The employee must be able to exert 15 to 20 pounds of force occasionally and handle light to moderate physical demands. Normal hearing and vision are necessary for communication and work performance.
