Job Description

Coherent is seeking a highly skilled Silicon Photonics Designer to join our team. As a key member of our optical engineering group, you will be responsible for designing, testing, and debugging silicon photonic circuits.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop silicon photonic devices, including modulators, photodetectors, and lasers.
  • Work closely with compound semiconductors, optical packaging, and module engineering groups to deliver high-performance silicon photonic chips.
  • Develop innovative and complex photonic circuits for emerging applications in communications and sensing.
  • Collaborate with test engineering teams to perform characterization of silicon photonic devices.
  • Work with quality engineers to create test and qualification plans.
Requirements:
  • MS or PhD in electrical engineering, applied physics, or physics, or equivalent degree.
  • 5 years of industrial experience in design and optimization of silicon/III-V photonic devices and photonic integrated circuits.
  • Strong experience in RF/SI simulation and optimization, as well as photonic integrated circuits design CAD tools.
  • Excellent experience in testing and characterization of optoelectronic devices and modules.
  • Good knowledge of high-speed analog circuitry, digital electronics circuitry, and digital signal processing.
