Silicon Photonics Designer

Coherent is seeking a highly skilled Silicon Photonics Designer to join our team. As a key member of our optical engineering group, you will be responsible for designing, testing, and debugging silicon photonic circuits.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, applied physics, or physics, and will have experience in design and optimization of silicon/III-V photonic devices and photonic integrated circuits.
Key Responsibilities- Design and simulate silicon photonic circuits using various CAD tools, including Cadence, Synopsis, and Python design environments.
- Run optical simulation tools, such as Lumerical and Rsoft, to optimize circuit performance.
- Collaborate with module developers to design optical subassemblies and work with foundries to define and optimize device structures and processes.
- Work with test engineering teams to perform characterization of silicon photonic devices and quality engineers to create test and qualification plans.
- MS or PhD in electrical engineering, applied physics, or physics, or equivalent degree.
- 5 years of industrial experience in design and optimization of silicon/III-V photonic devices and photonic integrated circuits.
- Strong experience in RF/SI simulation and optimization, as well as photonic integrated circuits design CAD tools.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
