Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Silicon Photonics Quality and Reliability Engineer to join our team at Coherent. As a key member of our quality team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing quality and reliability standards and procedures for Silicon Photonics PIC products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and enforce quality and reliability standards and procedures for Silicon Photonics PIC products.
  • Lead industry-leading process certification, product qualification, test and manufacturing quality efforts.
  • Work closely with internal product development teams to provide comprehensive support across all stages of product development.
  • Act as a proactive advocate for Design for Quality and Reliability, ensuring alignment with key stakeholders.
  • Contribute to defining reliability requirements and developing automated screening methodologies for Silicon Photonic PIC products.
  • Conduct risk assessments, manage material containment and excursions, and lead investigations and failure analyses to drive continuous improvement.
Requirements
  • BS/MS/PhD in Material Science, Physics, Photonics, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in roles focused on product certification, test and manufacturing quality, and reliability engineering.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard problem-solving techniques such as 5 Whys, 8D, and Fishbone analysis.
  • Extensive background and expertise in Photonic device fabrication and backend processing.
  • Familiarity with integrating silicon photonic PICs in optical transceivers is a plus.
  • Familiarity with reliability statistics, Physics of Failure (PoF), and failure analysis methodologies.
Working Conditions

This role requires the ability to work collaboratively in an office environment and to perform tasks that may require lifting up to 50 lbs as needed.
