Lead Optical Subassembly Designer for High-Speed Transceivers

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Optical Subassembly Lead Engineer to join our team at II-VI Incorporated. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing high-performance Optical Subassemblies (OSAs) for high-speed fiber optic transceivers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop OSA architectures for high-speed fiber optic transceivers with high performance and manufacturability.
  • Collaborate with the transceiver module engineering group to develop and define OSA designs, working closely with optical, mechanical, RF design, process, and test engineers.
  • Develop and define specifications for active components, such as laser diodes, PINs, PICs, and passive optical components, working with internal and external suppliers.
  • Specify development and production test requirements and perform hands-on testing to understand performance and reliability corners.
  • Work with program management and various divisions within the company to coordinate program schedules.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Optics, or equivalent.
  • Or Master's degree with 3+ years of work experience in a related field, developing electrical/optical components for fiber optic communication.

Desirable Skills

  • Optical, thermal, and RF simulation skills.
  • Good knowledge of Silicon photonics devices and experience in their application in transceivers.
  • Good understanding of fiber-optic transmission and RF electronics for high-speed communication.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Working Conditions

  • Travel to Asia may be required.
  • On-site work may be required for at least 3 days per week.
