The Sales Account Executive plays a crucial role in managing inbound and outbound communications, ensuring the maintenance of strong business relationships with current clients. This position focuses on customer retention strategies for a designated portfolio, collaborating with various departments including operations, sales, and management to enhance client satisfaction in the Commercial and Industrial sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary contact for existing service areas, establishing and nurturing essential business relationships with permanent commercial and industrial clients.
  • Support retention efforts by addressing both sales and customer service needs, negotiating to retain core accounts affected by competitive pressures.
  • Respond to inbound inquiries and cancellation letters received via certified mail.
  • Manage customer relationships through contract renewals, negotiations, and adjustments in pricing.
  • Conduct outbound collections calls and assist with billing inquiries as necessary.
  • Complete required documentation and miscellaneous reports.
  • Assist the Account Management team with service changes that impact revenue.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the company's services, pricing structures, and additional offerings to effectively serve existing clients.
  • Utilize Salesforce for scheduling and documenting all activities related to new business opportunities.
  • Achieve or exceed monthly targets for new business acquisition and pricing objectives.
  • Engage in regular phone outreach and adhere to activity standards associated with the role.
  • Facilitate a smooth transition from new account acquisition to ongoing account management.
  • Create and implement an account penetration strategy aligned with the company's growth goals.
  • Proactively reach out to customers for contract renewals and negotiations, while addressing potential customer attrition.
  • Utilize Salesforce daily for effective management of the sales pipeline.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proven sales experience with a track record of exceeding revenue targets and managing a client portfolio.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of interacting professionally with team members, management, and clients.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including effective listening, problem-solving, and negotiation abilities.
  • Advanced organizational and time management skills.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic, demonstrating integrity and trustworthiness.
  • Adaptability to change and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the solid waste industry (preferred).
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field (preferred).

Working Conditions:

  • This role operates in various environments, including both office settings and field locations.
  • Noise levels are typically moderate.
  • Standard office equipment such as computers, phones, filing cabinets, photocopiers, and fax machines are routinely used.

Physical/Mental Demands:

  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, use hands and fingers, talk, and hear.
  • Visual requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
