Role Responsibilities:

The Surgical Technology Specialist is responsible for delivering proficient perioperative patient care through the effective use of surgical instruments and equipment. This role includes:

  • Assisting the physician during operative and invasive procedures as a scrub assistant.
  • Collaborating under the guidance of a Registered Nurse and serving as a resource for other team members.
  • Demonstrating knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care for patients across various life stages.

Key Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist Program.
  • Licensure/Certification: Certified in Basic Life Support; Current Certification as a Surgical Technologist by the National Board of Surgical Technology & Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Main OR; Trauma experience preferred.

Principal Duties:

  • Exhibiting knowledge of perioperative patient care concepts and functioning independently as the first scrub in designated specialty areas.
  • Ensuring the readiness and flow of surgical cases, performing assigned duties to facilitate unit operations.
  • Verifying the availability and functionality of surgical supplies and equipment prior to procedures.
  • Maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors while adhering to all organizational policies and standards.
  • Supporting professional growth through continuing education and serving as a mentor to less experienced staff.
  • Demonstrating a commitment to compassionate care and personalized experiences for every patient.
