Position: Sales Representative - Washington, D.C. Area
Reporting To: Regional Sales Leader
Classification: Exempt
Location: Washington, D.C. Area
Importance of This Role
The Sales Representative plays a crucial role in driving the sales of research products within a designated territory. Responsibilities include cultivating and maintaining robust customer relationships, identifying growth opportunities within the existing client base, and ensuring market penetration and profitability while meeting sales and profit targets. This position is ideal for a motivated professional eager to gain valuable sales experience within a growing organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take charge of the territory to establish and nurture strong customer connections.
- Formulate strategies and implement plans to achieve annual sales and gross margin objectives.
- Oversee pricing strategies within the territory to meet financial goals.
- Make independent decisions while utilizing available resources to meet customer needs, promoting seamless collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Keep abreast of competitor and industry developments, staying informed about new products/services and relevant customer insights to incorporate into the business strategy.
- Maintain accurate documentation, records, and files essential for effective territory management.
- Report customer concerns or potential issues and undertake additional tasks as assigned by management.
- Provide customers with updates on supply and pricing trends, assisting in inventory management and offering consultative support.
- Represent Genesee Scientific positively during all customer interactions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline or equivalent experience, typically with two or more years in sales or research laboratory settings.
- Demonstrated success in delivering sales and marketing information that influences customer decisions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Preferred skills include proficiency in Microsoft Office and Teams, along with experience in Salesforce, Sage, or other CRM platforms.
- Results-driven with a strong work ethic and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Primarily operates from a home office with frequent travel to customer locations; overnight travel may be required.
- The role involves minimal physical exertion, including tasks such as walking, standing, bending, reaching, and occasionally lifting or carrying items weighing less than 10 lbs.
