Job Title: Transfer Admissions Specialist

Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Admissions, Transfer Programs, the Transfer Admissions Specialist plays a pivotal role in identifying potential transfer students and providing admissions-related information to the general public. This includes prospective applicants, parents, faculty, high-school and community college counselors, and campus colleagues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify and engage with potential transfer students to provide admissions-related information and support.
  • Develop and implement recruitment programs to strengthen the transfer pipeline for underrepresented populations and underserved communities.
  • Collaborate with campus colleagues, schools, universities, and community organizations to establish and maintain cooperative relationships.
  • Review and evaluate applications for transfer admission, using professional judgment and comprehensive knowledge of educational processes.
  • Provide admissions counseling for prospective students, admitted and denied applicants, current UC San Diego undergraduates, high school and community college counselors, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain confidentiality, discretion, and exercise good judgment in handling sensitive and confidential matters.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or three years' experience in undergraduate admissions, student advising, or student counseling.
  • Thorough knowledge and experience working with a diverse student population.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate University policies and procedures to prospective students and the public.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to provide excellent constituent/customer service.
  • Ability to develop recruitment programs, design effective materials, and independently organize and implement informational programs.
  • Capacity to be precise and pay close attention to detail, with the ability to independently review records and develop itineraries, schedules, and plans.
Working Conditions:

This position requires working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, high-demand office, with minimal supervision. The ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment in handling sensitive and confidential matters is essential.

Special Conditions: Duties may require direct contact with children (defined as individuals under the age of 18). Completion of the Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA) form is required.
