Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transfer Admissions Specialist to join our team at UC San Diego. As a key member of our Admissions staff, you will play a critical role in identifying and recruiting transfer students from diverse backgrounds, with a strong focus on underrepresented populations and underserved communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide admissions-related information to the general public, including prospective applicants, parents, faculty, high school and community college counselors, and campus colleagues.
  • Work closely with the Assistant Director of Admissions, Transfer Programs to develop and implement recruitment strategies and programs to strengthen the transfer pipeline.
  • Review and evaluate applications for transfer admission, using professional judgment and comprehensive knowledge of educational processes.
  • Collaborate with campus colleagues to ensure good relationships with the public and institutions involved in outreach and recruitment.
  • Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with schools, universities, community organizations, and other institutions to support transfer student recruitment.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or three years of experience in undergraduate admissions, student advising, or student counseling.
  • Thorough knowledge and experience working with a diverse student population, with the ability to interact effectively with prospective students, families, counselors, administrators, and the general public.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate University policies and procedures, as well as use independent judgment in making admission decisions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to provide excellent constituent/customer service in all interactions.
  • Ability to develop recruitment programs and design effective materials, as well as independently organize and implement informational programs for students and parents.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with transfer student populations and their unique needs, as well as experience in implementing programs and workshops with high schools and community colleges.
  • Knowledge of admission-related technology, including CRM systems, and ability to efficiently utilize technology and data to execute responsibilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, discretion, and exercise good judgment in handling sensitive and confidential matters.
Special Conditions

Duties may require direct contact with children, and completion of the Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA) form is required.
