Job Summary

The Transfer Admissions Specialist will play a critical role in identifying and recruiting potential transfer students to UC San Diego. This position will work closely with the Assistant Director of Admissions, Transfer Programs, to develop and implement recruitment strategies that strengthen the transfer pipeline for underrepresented populations and underserved communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and recruit potential transfer students through various channels, including high schools, community colleges, and community-based organizations.
  • Develop and implement recruitment programs and materials that effectively communicate the value of a UC San Diego education to transfer students.
  • Collaborate with campus colleagues, including advisors and administrators, to ensure a seamless transition for transfer students.
  • Review and evaluate applications for transfer admission, using professional judgment and comprehensive knowledge of educational processes.
  • Provide admissions counseling and support to prospective students, admitted and denied applicants, and current UC San Diego undergraduates.
  • Stay up-to-date on changes to policy, procedures, and best practices in undergraduate admissions, and adapt to changes as required.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or three years of experience in undergraduate admissions, student advising, or student counseling.
  • Thorough knowledge and experience working with a diverse student population, including multicultural and non-traditional populations.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate University policies and procedures to prospective students and the public.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information effectively to large and small groups.
  • Ability to develop and implement recruitment programs, and design effective materials.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with schools, universities, community organizations, and other institutions.
  • Ability to assess workload, organize, and prioritize work to meet multiple deadlines with efficiency and accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Experience working in a higher education setting, particularly in undergraduate admissions.
  • Knowledge of admission-related technology, including CRM systems.
  • Experience implementing programs and workshops with high schools and community colleges for recruitment and yield purposes.
Special Conditions
  • Duties may require direct contact with children (defined as individuals under the age of 18). Completion of the Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA) form is required.
