Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Check-In and Check-Out:
    • Welcoming patients warmly and assisting with the check-in process.
    • Verifying and updating patient information to ensure accuracy in electronic medical records.
    • Scheduling follow-up appointments and procedures as directed by healthcare providers.
    • Processing patient check-out, collecting payments, and issuing receipts.
  • Appointment Scheduling:
    • Coordinating and scheduling appointments for consultations, diagnostic tests, and procedures.
    • Ensuring optimal utilization of appointment slots and managing appointment cancellations or rescheduling.
  • Insurance Verification:
    • Verifying patient insurance coverage and obtaining necessary authorizations for procedures.
    • Assisting patients in understanding their insurance benefits and responsibilities.
  • Medical Records Management:
    • Maintaining confidentiality and accuracy of patient records.
    • Organizing and managing medical records, ensuring they are up-to-date and readily accessible.
    • Assisting with the transfer of medical records when necessary.
  • Office Coordination:
    • Collaborating with medical staff to coordinate patient flow and address any scheduling or administrative challenges.
    • Assisting in maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the reception area.
  • Customer Service:
    • Providing exceptional customer service to patients, addressing their concerns and inquiries in a professional and empathetic manner.
    • Handling difficult situations with tact and escalating issues to the appropriate personnel when necessary.
    Requirements
    • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in healthcare administration is a plus.
    • Proven experience as a medical receptionist or in a similar customer service role.
    • Familiarity with medical terminology and procedures, especially in gastroenterology, is preferred.
    • Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems, preferably Athena One.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
    • Ability to maintain composure in a fast-paced environment.
