Job Description and Duties

As a Hazardous Substances Engineer with the Department of Toxic Substances Control, you will play a critical role in overseeing the environmental cleanup and restoration of contaminated sites. This position requires a strong background in engineering, with a focus on hazardous materials and waste management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and manage multiple projects to ensure timely and budget-friendly completion
  • Review and prepare technical engineering reports and documents
  • Coordinate and conduct oversight of field activities
  • Collaborate with project teams, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to achieve project goals
  • Interface with the public and provide information on project progress and outcomes
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Experience in managing multiple projects with conflicting deadlines
  • Ability to review and prepare technical documents
  • Strong research and oversight skills
  • Experience in participating in meetings, workgroups, and presentations
  • Site investigation and cleanup experience (CERCLA, RCRA) is preferred
Working Conditions:

This position requires a valid California Driver's License (CDL) and a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) for the hiring manager's review. The SOQ should be no more than 2 pages in length, clearly written, and well-organized.
