Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Investigator to join our team at the Department of Toxic Substances Control. As an Investigator, you will play a critical role in enforcing California's Hazardous Waste Control Law and protecting human health and the environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate violations of the California Hazardous Waste Control Law by responding to complaints, tips, and other information that alleges illegal hazardous waste activities in the state.
  • Conduct undercover surveillance and gather evidence to support enforcement actions.
  • Write and execute search warrants, serve subpoenas, and make arrests as necessary.
  • Prepare and submit official investigatory reports for legal prosecution.
  • Testify in court and administrative hearings about case findings.
Requirements
  • Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of appointment.
  • Incumbents must possess a valid Peace Officer Regular Basic or Specialized Investigator Basic Course POST certificate or attend and complete the academy during the first year of employment.
  • Must have a valid California Driver's License.
