Job Summary

Labcorp is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to fill the role of Specimen Accessioner in Lakewood, CO. As a key member of our Specimen Accessioning team, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely accessioning of cytology and histology specimens, as well as data entry of patient information into our computer system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accessioning of cytology and histology specimens
  • Data entry of patient information for surgical specimens from hospitals and clinics
  • Unpacking and routing specimens to their respective staging areas
  • Resolving and documenting any problem specimens
  • Verifying patient demographic information matches the test requisition form submitted
  • Data entry of patient information into the computer system for tracking purposes
  • Meeting key production metrics and quality measures to ensure timely and accurate results
  • Packing and shipping specimens to proper testing facilities when required
  • Handling and disposing of waste
  • Complying with applicable environmental health and safety policies and procedures
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • No prior experience required; 1-2 years preferred
  • Previous medical or production experience is a plus
  • Comfortable handling biological specimens
  • Ability to accurately identify specimens
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Strong data entry and organizational skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Ability to lift up to 40lbs
  • Ability to pass a standardized color blind test
