Key Responsibilities:

As a Project Engineer, your daily tasks will encompass, but are not limited to:
  • Achieving safety objectives for assigned projects and identifying areas for enhancement in safe work practices.
  • Overseeing project engineering tasks, including the review and coordination of shop drawings and submittals, material ordering, sequencing, resolving layout/drawing discrepancies, supporting layout engineers/surveyors, and enhancing technical construction knowledge.
  • Assisting with concrete and civil estimating, which includes quantity takeoffs, proposal development, and subcontractor scope/pricing.
  • Contributing to project planning by developing civil and concrete methodologies, schedules, and coordinating subcontractors.
  • Supporting project superintendents and craft foremen in project execution, field management, and daily coordination.
  • Assisting Project and Assistant Project Managers with subcontractor/vendor buyout, commitments, and scope execution.
  • Estimating and quoting additional work, documenting changes, ensuring extras are logged and tracked, and managing Owner contract modifications.
  • Managing and tracking project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, safety forms, drawing logs, material logs, equipment logs, and time/material tickets.
  • Collaborating with the project team to develop project schedules and look-ahead plans.
  • Supporting Civil and Concrete Strategic Planning initiatives and ensuring compliance with the strategic plan.
Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess the following experience, knowledge, and skills:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience in the construction industry, with previous internships in construction management or related fields being advantageous.
  • Alternatively, a combination of education, training, and experience that meets the above criteria.

  • Ability to build effective working relationships with a diverse range of individuals, including internal and external stakeholders.
  • Capability to work independently with minimal supervision, effectively planning, scheduling, and organizing tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Strong ability to follow instructions, respond to management direction, take responsibility for actions, and uphold commitments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • A passion for collaborative planning and problem-solving.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements: The majority of work will take place at construction sites and in office trailers where project oversight and daily construction decisions are made. The role may involve exposure to loud noises from construction equipment. Adherence to safety protocols, including the use of protective gear, is mandatory on-site.

Physical demands include:
  • Occasional standing, walking, sitting, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, hear instructions, and operate a keyboard.
  • Frequent lifting/moving of up to 25 pounds and occasional lifting/moving of up to 50 pounds.
