Key Responsibilities:


Adhere to the principles of Employee Engagement, Operational Excellence & Safety, Customer Satisfaction, Corporate Social Responsibility, and Economic Performance.

Implement and oversee operational practices to ensure equipment reliability and quality service while maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
Manage the Department's annual budget to achieve financial objectives.
Analyze workforce utilization and facilities to identify continuous improvement opportunities.
Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and procedures, reporting hazards as necessary.
Assist in monitoring compliance with operational rules for the commuter rail system.
Conduct training and assessments for employees on the Physical Characteristics of the railroad.

Oversee the instruction and examination of all operational rules for employees involved in transportation and dispatching.

Coordinate and disseminate weekly and monthly safety-critical bulletins and divisional notices.
Administer collective bargaining agreements as required through regular job performance.
Participate in all assigned training, particularly related to safety and security.
Perform additional duties as assigned during emergencies.

Core Skills Required:

A combination of relevant training, education, and experience with a minimum of 3 years in railroad operations and safety regulations.

Familiarity with the MBTA/NEC Timetables and Special Instructions Operating & Safety Rules is essential.
Knowledge of the Physical Characteristics of the railroad and related manuals is preferred.
Ability to become NORAC qualified.
Proficiency in MS Office applications.
Strong organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary for effective interaction with various stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and make informed decisions that yield optimal results.
A proactive approach to exploring opportunities and evaluating resources is essential.
Strong interpersonal skills and a satisfactory prior work history are required.
