Triumvirate Environmental, a leading firm in environmental services across North America, is looking for an EHS Specialist to become part of our Mid-Atlantic South regional team.

In the role of EHS Specialist, you will play a crucial part in assisting clients to ensure the safety of their employees, contractors, and customers while protecting the work environment and its surroundings.

Under the guidance of the client EHS personnel, the EHS Specialist will contribute to the design, implementation, and assessment of safety initiatives, conduct inspections of the operational environment, provide training, and serve as a resource to enhance a comprehensive EHS program.

This hands-on position will also involve supporting hazardous waste and regulated medical waste management programs, which includes waste handling, preparation of waste shipments, material management, inspections, and documentation.

This position reports to our Regional EHS Director. This role is onsite and is based at client sites in the Raleigh, NC area.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct safety inspections of workplaces following established procedures, assessing the use of personal protective equipment, such as respirators, protective eyewear, or hard hats, in accordance with relevant regulations.

Participate in safety evaluations and examinations of machinery and equipment, including lifting devices, machine guards, or scaffolding.

Identify and assess potential accident and health risks, such as toxic vapors, mold, mildew, and explosive gas-air mixtures, utilizing calibrated scientific instruments and/or collecting samples as per defined operating procedures.

Assist in investigating accidents and injuries, determining causes, and recommending corrective measures.
Prepare reports, including accident or ergonomic assessments, and enter information on required Occupational Safety and Health Administration recordkeeping forms.
Engage with client personnel regarding workplace environmental health and safety matters, implementing necessary corrective actions.
Facilitate routine EHS safety training sessions such as new employee orientation, hazard communication, and fork truck operation.

Contribute to the development of specific areas of environmental and occupational health and safety systems, including drafting or updating policies, procedures, and manuals.

Support hazardous waste and regulated medical waste management programs, including waste handling, preparation of waste shipments, material management, inspections, and documentation.


Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Occupational Health, Safety, or a related scientific discipline, such as Biology, Chemistry, or Engineering.
1+ years of experience in an EHS role.
Attention to detail.
Problem-solving skills with the ability to remain composed in challenging situations.
Possess a valid driver's license and personal vehicle.
Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:
Completion of two or more industry-recognized trainings (OSHA 10 or 30, ABSA, HAZWOPER, DOT/IATA HAZMAT Transportation).
Active membership in at least one national professional safety organization, including local chapters.

Working towards meeting the requirements for and obtaining a professional designation/certification (CSP, CHMM, CIH, etc.) and may be considering postgraduate coursework or in the process of obtaining a master's degree in health physics, industrial hygiene, occupational safety, ergonomics, or a related field.
