Key Responsibilities:


Uphold the principles of Employee Engagement, Operational Excellence & Safety, Customer Satisfaction, Corporate Social Responsibility, and Economic Performance.

Implement and oversee operational practices to ensure equipment reliability and quality service while maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
Manage the Department's annual budget to achieve financial objectives.
Analyze workforce and facility utilization to identify opportunities for improvement in work practices and scheduling.
Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and procedures, reporting hazards as necessary.
Assist in monitoring compliance with operational rules for the commuter rail system.
Responsible for training and evaluating employees on the Physical Characteristics of the railroad.

Conduct instruction and examinations on all operational rules relevant to Transportation for employees involved in operating and dispatching over Commuter Rail properties.

Coordinate and disseminate weekly and monthly safety-critical bulletins and divisional notices.
Administer collective bargaining agreements as required through regular job performance.
Participate in all assigned training, particularly those related to safety and security.
Perform additional duties as assigned during emergencies.

Core Skills Required:

A combination of relevant training, education, and experience with a minimum of 3 years in railroad operations and safety regulations.

Familiarity with the MBTA/NEC Timetables and Special Instructions Operating & Safety Rules is essential.
Knowledge of the Physical Characteristics of the railroad and related manuals is preferred.
Must be capable of obtaining NORAC qualification.
Proficiency in MS Office applications is required.
Strong organizational skills are essential.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary to interact effectively with various disciplines and levels, including both internal and external personnel.

Demonstrated ability to independently analyze information and make decisions that yield optimal results.
Self-motivated with a proactive approach to exploring opportunities and evaluating resources.
Strong interpersonal skills are essential.
Proven satisfactory work history.
