Position Summary: We are currently seeking an EHS Specialist to support our operations in the Mid-Atlantic South region. In this role, you will play a crucial part in assisting clients to ensure the safety of their workforce, contractors, and customers while protecting the surrounding environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive workplace safety assessments in accordance with established protocols, ensuring compliance with personal protective equipment regulations.
  • Engage in safety evaluations of machinery and equipment, including lifting devices and scaffolding.
  • Identify and assess potential health and safety hazards, utilizing calibrated scientific instruments and sample collection methods.
  • Assist in the investigation of incidents and injuries, providing insights and recommendations for corrective measures.
  • Prepare detailed reports, including accident documentation and OSHA recordkeeping forms.
  • Communicate effectively with client personnel regarding environmental health and safety concerns, implementing necessary corrective actions.
  • Facilitate routine EHS training sessions covering topics such as new employee orientation and hazard communication.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of environmental and occupational health and safety systems, including the drafting of policies and procedures.
  • Support hazardous waste and regulated medical waste management programs, including waste handling and recordkeeping.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Occupational Health, Safety, or a related scientific discipline (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Engineering).
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in an EHS role.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities, particularly in high-pressure situations.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle.
  • Authorization to work in the US without sponsorship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of two or more recognized industry training programs (e.g., OSHA 10 or 30, HAZWOPER).
  • Active membership in a national professional safety organization.
  • Progress towards obtaining a professional certification (e.g., CSP, CHMM) and consideration of postgraduate education in relevant fields.
