Position Summary
The Medical Assistant Coordinator serves as a vital link in patient care, acting as a patient advocate while ensuring the efficient management of clinical supplies, documentation, and patient flow in compliance with OSHA/WISHA and other regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of the Medical Assistant Coordinator encompass, but are not limited to:

  • Facilitating direct patient care during office visits, which may include:
    • Organizing examination room instruments and maintaining adequate supplies
    • Disposing of contaminated materials and sterilizing medical instruments
    • Positioning patients for examinations and procedures
    • Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens
    • Recording vital signs, patient history, and chief complaints
    • Executing other patient care-related tasks as required
  • Assisting healthcare providers during clinic procedures, which may involve:
    • Preparing patient examination and procedural areas with strict aseptic techniques
    • Positioning patients for extended durations and utilizing instruments to maintain immobility during procedures
    • Providing instruments to the provider while standing for prolonged periods
    • Communicating test results to patients as directed by the physician promptly
    • Documenting all vital information in electronic health records and ensuring all medication and health history is accurately recorded
    • Conducting phone triage, making post-operative calls, and responding to voicemails within a timely manner
    • Maintaining comprehensive patient documentation for visits and communications
    • Coordinating care and diagnostic testing at external facilities as directed by the physician
    • Assisting providers with e-prescribing and maintaining medication lists
    • Facilitating communication with referring physicians
    • Ensuring equipment is maintained and supplies are adequately stocked
    • Completing daily team duties and special assignments as needed

Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant Program is preferred, though training will be provided
  • Current Medical Assistant Certification in Washington State is preferred
  • 1-2 years of experience in a medical office setting is advantageous

Work Environment
