Patient Care Administrative Coordinator - ICU Telemetry

This role is essential in executing various administrative and clerical tasks within the patient care environment. The coordinator engages with patients, families, and healthcare professionals, serving as a vital link among the healthcare team, patients, and their families. The position supports nursing staff in managing unit activities and ensures the organization of workspaces while handling the procurement of necessary forms and supplies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer Interaction: Welcomes visitors and provides necessary information and assistance. Collaborates with patients, families, and healthcare providers to identify needs and resolve issues. Facilitates patient transitions to different departments and manages communication effectively.
  • Patient Management: Prepares documentation for new admissions, transfers, and discharges. Ensures that all necessary information is ready for incoming patients and assists in the smooth transition of care.
  • Electronic Health Records Management: Handles all admission, discharge, and transfer functions within the electronic medical record system. Prepares documentation for patient transfers and discharges, ensuring accuracy in accommodation codes and managing bed availability.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Educates families and visitors on hygiene protocols and participates in patient education regarding unit routines. Maintains a clean and organized work environment in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Additional Duties: Communicates essential information to relief staff, updates patient assignment boards, and manages supply orders. Coordinates with other departments to address equipment issues and maintains necessary documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting, completion of a Health Unit Coordinator program, or 3 months in a relevant internship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with electronic medical records systems.
