Materials Innovation Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Materials Developer to join our team at Nike. As a key member of our Global Apparel Materials Team, you will play a critical role in driving the development of sustainable textiles and trims that meet our high standards for quality and performance.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement creative material solutions that align with our sustainability goals and meet the needs of our athletes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Innovation, Design, Product Merchandising, Technical Development, Sourcing, and Manufacturing, to ensure a thoughtful approach to material development.
- Partner with vendors to develop and test materials from inception to production, ensuring timely delivery and optimized materials palettes.
- Drive analysis and material reviews to optimize materials palettes and ensure compliance with our sustainability goals.
- Travel up to approximately 10% of the time to collaborate with internal and external partners.
- Bachelor's degree in Textile Science, Apparel, or a related field, or any acceptable combination of education, experience, and training.
- Minimum of 5 years of apparel industry experience, or 7+ years of industry experience in lieu of a degree.
- Technical materials knowledge, including yarns, knitting, weaving, dyeing, printing, and finishing techniques.
- Knowledge of knits, wovens, ribs, and print.
- Experience leading multiple projects with competing resources and time targets across multiple seasons.
- Strong information seeking-skills and a drive for results.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a diverse group.
- Ability to network and apply internal and external resources.
- Experience working with sustainable materials is highly desired.
- Knowledge of industry material trends.
