About this Opportunity

Brown Machine Group is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Procurement Specialist to join our team at our Beaverton, MI site. As a key member of our purchasing team, you will be responsible for procuring goods and services in the most efficient and effective manner to satisfy our requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies, procedures, and Uniform Commercial Code.
  2. Assist in locating, qualifying, and developing appropriate sources of goods and services.
  3. Evaluate bid requests from suppliers and manufacturers to determine the ranking of vendors to purchase from.
  4. Negotiate with vendors for optimal results of cost, delivery, quality, and service.
  5. Measure vendor performance in terms of cost, delivery, quality, and service.
  6. Process purchase orders through our business system.
  7. Follow up and expedite timely receipt of backordered items.
  8. Coordinate inbound freight means to meet delivery and cost requirements.
  9. Assist in verifying and resolving discrepancies on purchase orders versus invoices.
  10. Coordinate the return of faulty and/or incorrect goods and negotiate credit for rework labor incurred by BMG.
  11. Work closely with all departments to coordinate the flow of purchasing documentation and other communication within manufacturing and to other departments.
  12. Participate in the resolution of disbursement errors and inventory discrepancies.
  13. Attend and participate in scheduled meetings.
  14. Inform management of situations or conditions that may cause us to miss scheduled deliveries, quality, or cost objectives.
  15. Responsible for assigned purchased goods inventory consistent with management's financial policy, shipment, and customer service objectives.
  16. Assist in the responsibility for recommending, using, and disposing of excess and inactive assigned purchased goods inventory.
  17. Assist with raw material procurement as needed.
  18. Assist in preparing quotes for spare parts, kits sales, and tooling as required.
  19. Responsible for parts order drop shipments.
  20. Assist in negotiating and maintaining freight contracts.
Requirements:
  1. A minimum of a High School Diploma is required; a 2-year Business or Technical Degree is preferred.
  2. Working knowledge of capital equipment manufacturing, products, and materials is preferred.
  3. 1-2 years of experience in purchasing is preferred.
  4. General computer skills.
  5. Oral and written communication skills.
  6. Interpersonal skills.
Environment/Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at our facilities.
