Position Overview:

As a Mechanical Integrity Inspector at TPC Group, you will operate under the guidance of Lead Inspectors to uphold the mechanical reliability of fixed equipment within your designated area. This encompasses a variety of mechanical assets, including pressure vessels, storage tanks, piping systems, and associated components such as valves and filters. Your primary goal will be to ensure that all equipment is suitable for ongoing and future operations. This responsibility spans all stages of mechanical equipment management, from design and procurement to installation, operation, and decommissioning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough visual inspections and compile detailed reports.
  • Analyze Ultrasonic Testing (UT) data for accuracy and compliance.
  • Adhere to and manage all Management of Change (MOC) processes impacting the Mechanical Integrity (MI) program.
  • Participate in and facilitate Root Cause Investigations (RCIs).
  • Address operational queries and concerns effectively.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of relief valve data.
  • Initiate and track deferrals for fixed equipment as necessary.
  • Maintain open communication with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams.
  • Ensure compliance with all MI procedures.
  • Perform Clamp Inspections as required.
  • Inspect and validate all bundles, both new and existing.
  • Develop and review Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) for upcoming maintenance activities.
  • Identify potential Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI) areas and provide recommendations.
  • Conduct Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) as needed.
  • Review engineering packages and provide constructive feedback.
  • Carry out tank leg inspections and assess ladders, handrails, and platforms.
  • Oversee all fixed equipment projects from initiation to completion, including maintenance and capital projects.
  • Verify the accuracy and completeness of final construction documentation.
  • Perform spot checks on fabrication and materials to ensure adherence to specifications.
  • Review x-ray inspections and witness pressure testing procedures.
  • Evaluate Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQ).
  • Confirm the completion of insulation and painting tasks.
  • Conduct inspections during shop fabrication.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards.
  • Interpret and follow Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), construction drawings, and civil drawings independently.
  • Verify the functionality of cathodic protection systems.
  • Possess the capability to create piping isometrics.
  • Demonstrate experience in circuitizing piping systems.
  • Develop and implement repair plans and scopes of work.
  • Report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) regularly.
Qualifications Required:
  • API 510 certification with a commitment to obtain API 570 within one year.
  • A minimum of 5 years of inspection experience in a chemical processing or refining environment.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
  • No acrophobia or claustrophobia.
  • Capability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Possession of a valid TWIC Card or the ability to obtain one.
  • Valid Driver's License required for travel between sites.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Drawing TrueView.
  • Knowledge of codes and standards including NBIC, ASME, API, and various ASTM, NFPA, and NACE standards.
  • Familiarity with DOT and Coast Guard regulations.
  • Experience with PCMS as an administrator.
  • Proficient in CMMS Maximo and Oracle.
  • Working knowledge of Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • API 570 certification.
  • API 653 certification.
  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or Certified Associate Welding Inspector (CAWI).
  • Level II or III certifications in PT, MT, or UTT.
  • Experience in film interpretation.
