As a Senior API Inspector at TPC Group, you will play a critical role in ensuring the mechanical integrity of our fixed equipment, including pressure vessels, storage tanks, piping, and other critical systems. Under the direct supervision of our Lead Inspectors, you will be responsible for conducting visual inspections, analyzing UT data, and following procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct thorough visual inspections of equipment and write detailed reports
- Analyze ultrasonic testing (UT) data to identify potential issues
- Follow and implement procedures for Pressure Safety System Reviews (PSSR) and Management of Change (MOC) affecting the Mechanical Integrity (MI) program
- Participate in and lead Root Cause Investigations (RCIs) to identify and address equipment issues
- Communicate effectively with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to ensure seamless collaboration
- Develop and review Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) for upcoming turnarounds, shutdowns, and cleanings
- Identify potential Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI) areas and provide recommendations for mitigation
- Perform Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) as needed or when required
- Review and comment on packages from engineering to ensure compliance with industry standards
- Conduct tank leg inspections, ladder, handrail, and platform inspections
- Follow all fixed equipment jobs from start to completion, including maintenance work, capital projects, and turnarounds
- Ensure all final construction packages are accurate and complete
- Verify proper fabrication and material (Material Test Reports) to ensure compliance with TPC Group specifications
- Review all x-rays performed and witness pressure tests
- Review Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welding Procedure Qualification (WPQ)
- Verify proper insulation and painting have been completed
- Conduct shop fabrication inspections
- Ensure code compliance with relevant industry standards
- Read and follow Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Construction Drawings, Inspection Isometrics, and Civil Drawings without assistance
- Verify cathodic protection systems and tests
- Capable of creating piping isometrics and experience in circuitizing piping systems
- Develop and follow repair plans and scopes of work
- Report out on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- API 510 certification with agreement to obtain API 570 within 1 year
- Minimum 5 years of inspection field experience in a chemical plant or refinery
- Ability to climb ladders and work at heights
- Must not have acrophobia or claustrophobia (tower, vessel, boiler, tank)
- Able to carry 50 pounds
- Valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Card or ability to acquire
- Valid Driver's License to travel to both TPC Group sites
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Drawing TrueView
- Knowledgeable with relevant industry codes and practices, including NBIC, ASME B16.5, 1, B31.3, Sect I, II, V, VIII, IV, API 510, 520, 521, 560, 570, 571, 572, 574, 576, 577, 578, 579, 580, 581, 582, 583, 620, 650, 651, 653, 2000, 2218, and various ASTM, NFPA, and NACE standards
- Thorough working knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) and Coast Guard Regulations
- Literate in PCMS as an administrator
- Literate in CMMS Maximo and Oracle
- Working knowledge of Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) programs
- API 570 certification
- API 653 certification
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or Certified Associate Welding Inspector (CAWI)
- Level II or III Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), or Ultrasonic Testing (UT) certification
- Film Interpretation skills
