As a vital member of a dedicated team, the Inspector V plays a crucial role in safeguarding the health and safety of residents by performing on-site evaluations and investigations in Texas long-term care establishments, including assisted living facilities and health service sites. This role ensures compliance with both state and federal regulations.

In this dynamic field position, the Inspector V is responsible for investigating complaints and incidents, either independently or as part of a team, focusing on issues such as abuse, neglect, or exploitation.

The inspector operates in a mobile capacity, with minimal office work required. However, the role does involve drafting comprehensive reports that detail any identified deficiencies or violations, propose corrective actions, and provide a narrative to support regulatory conclusions.

Additionally, the inspector prepares written documentation that supports recommended actions and participates in surveys, inspections, and investigations as assigned, demonstrating flexibility in accepting various tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

Under the guidance of a program manager, the Inspector V conducts on-site licensing inspections, investigates complaints and incidents, and performs annual comprehensive surveys to assess compliance with health and safety regulations.

Clear and accurate communication with internal and external stakeholders is essential to provide, exchange, or verify information, address inquiries, and resolve issues related to services provided in Texas long-term care facilities, ensuring that services meet the specialized needs of residents.


Conducts exit conferences with facility personnel to discuss findings and may assist in developing corrective action plans.

Completes detailed inspection or survey reports outlining deficiencies, recommended corrective measures, and narratives to substantiate regulatory findings.

Visits long-term care facilities to verify the correction of previously identified regulatory violations.
Performs quality assurance reviews of documents prepared by others, such as publications, assessments, and reports.

Occasionally, the inspector may be required to testify at hearings or court proceedings to provide information regarding policies, procedures, findings, or activities.

Completes referrals for conduct as appropriate.
