Job Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Lead Inspectors, the Maintenance Inspector shall be responsible for ensuring the mechanical integrity of the fixed mechanical equipment inside their assigned unit. This includes pressure vessels, storage tanks, piping and piping components, filters, heat exchangers, heaters, boilers, relief devices, platforms, ladders, handrails, and structures at both sites.

The objective is to ensure that plant equipment is fit for new and/or continued service. This is applicable to all phases of fixed mechanical equipment design, procurement, fabrication, receipt and storage, installation, commissioning, operation, maintenance, and decommissioning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform Visual Inspections and Write Reports: Conduct thorough visual inspections of equipment and write detailed reports to document findings.
  • Analyze UT Data: Analyze ultrasonic testing data to identify potential issues with equipment.
  • Follow and Participate in PSSR and MOCs: Participate in Pre-Service Safety Reviews (PSSR) and Management of Change (MOC) processes to ensure compliance with company procedures.
  • Perform and Attend RCIs: Conduct and participate in Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) activities to identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Address Process/Operational Questions and Concerns: Respond to process and operational questions and concerns from operations, maintenance, and engineering teams.
  • Maintain Relief Valve Data: Ensure accurate and up-to-date records of relief valve data.
  • Initiate Deferrals and Track to Completion: Identify and initiate deferrals of fixed equipment as needed and track progress to completion.
  • Remain in Constant Communication: Maintain regular communication with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to ensure seamless coordination.
  • Ensure Adherence to MI Procedures: Ensure that all Maintenance Inspector procedures are followed and adhered to.
  • Perform Clamp Inspections: Conduct inspections of clamp equipment to ensure compliance with company procedures.
  • Inspect and Stamp Bundles: Inspect and stamp bundles (new and old) to ensure compliance with company procedures.
  • Develop and Review ITPs: Develop and review Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) for upcoming turnarounds, shutdowns, cleanings, outages, etc.
  • Identify Potential CUI Areas and Make Recommendations: Identify potential Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI) areas and make recommendations for mitigation.
  • Perform NDE as Needed: Perform Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) as needed or when required.
  • Review and Comment on Packages from Engineering: Review and comment on packages from engineering to ensure compliance with company procedures.
  • Perform Tank Leg Inspections: Conduct inspections of tank legs to ensure compliance with company procedures.
  • Perform Ladder, Handrail, and Platform Inspections: Conduct inspections of ladders, handrails, and platforms to ensure compliance with company procedures.
  • Follow All Fixed Equipment Jobs: Follow all fixed equipment jobs from start to completion, including maintenance work, capital projects, turnarounds, etc.
  • Ensure Final Construction Packages are Correct and Complete: Ensure that all final construction packages are correct and complete.
  • Spot Check Fabrication and Material: Conduct spot checks of fabrication and material to ensure compliance with company procedures.
  • Review All X-Rays Performed and Witness Pressure Tests: Review all x-rays performed and witness pressure tests to ensure compliance with company procedures.
  • Review WPS, PQR, and WPQ: Review Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welding Procedure Qualification (WPQ) to ensure compliance with company procedures.
  • Verify Proper Insulation and Painting: Verify that proper insulation and painting have been completed.
  • Shop Fabrication Inspections: Conduct inspections of shop fabrication to ensure compliance with company procedures.
  • Ensure Code Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards.
  • Read and Follow P&IDs, Construction Drawings, Inspection Isometrics, and Civil Drawings: Read and follow Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Construction Drawings, Inspection Isometrics, and Civil Drawings without assistance.
  • Verify Cathodic Protection Systems and Tests: Verify that cathodic protection systems and tests are completed as required.
  • Capable of Creating Piping Isometrics: Capable of creating piping isometrics.
  • Experience in Circuitizing Piping Systems: Experience in circuitizing piping systems.
  • Develop and Follow Repair Plans and Scopes of Work: Develop and follow repair plans and scopes of work.
  • Report Out on KPIs: Report out on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Required Qualifications:
  • API 510 with Agreement to Obtain API 570 within 1 Year: Possess API 510 certification with an agreement to obtain API 570 certification within 1 year.
  • Minimum 5 Years Inspection Field Experience: Possess a minimum of 5 years of inspection field experience in a chemical plant or refinery.
  • Ability to Climb Ladders: Ability to climb ladders.
  • No Acrophobia or Claustrophobia: No acrophobia or claustrophobia (tower, vessel, boiler, tank).
  • Able to Carry 50 Pounds: Able to carry 50 pounds.
  • Valid TWIC Card or Ability to Acquire: Possess a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card or ability to acquire.
  • Valid Driver's License to Travel to Both Sites: Possess a valid driver's license to travel to both sites.
  • Computer Literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Drawing TrueView: Possess computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Drawing TrueView.
  • Knowledge of Relevant Codes and Standards: Possess knowledge of relevant codes and standards, including NBIC, ASME B16.5, 1, B31.3, Sect I, II, V, VIII, IV, API 510, 520, 521, 560, 570, 571, 572, 574, 576, 577, 578, 579, 580, 581, 582, 583, 620, 650, 651, 653, 2000, 2218, and an understanding of various ASTM, NFPA, and NACE standards.
  • Knowledge of DOT and Coast Guard Regulations: Possess knowledge of DOT and Coast Guard regulations.
  • Literate in PCMS as an Administrator: Possess literacy in PCMS as an administrator.
  • Literate in CMMS Maximo and Oracle: Possess literacy in CMMS Maximo and Oracle.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • API 570: Possess API 570 certification.
